He was born on December 29, 1937, in Haverhill, MA, the son of the late Victor J. Chaput and Ella B. (Stowell) Chaput. Robert was a student at Keene High School and a graduate from the School of Hard Knocks.
Robert held numerous jobs throughout his life. Working in the Woolen Mill, American Optical, and installation of lightening rods. Most of all, he loved and was proud of his tenure as a truck driver at St. Johnsbury trucking, where he started on the loading dock and went to driving on the road when his wife allowed with the hustle and bustle of seven children at home.
On February 12, 1955, he married the love of his life Joyce (Peabody) Chaput, whom previously passed on January 14, 2020.
Robert had been a member of the Moose Lodge in Keene. He enjoyed traveling and camping with his wife and friends. They had taken many adventures, traveling to all 50 states, throughout Canada, and Europe. More than anything, he enjoyed being in the company of family, with many family holidays, gatherings, and reunions. He enjoyed hunting, taking many hunting trips, and hunting with family and friends.
Robert will be dearly missed by his family, Frederick V. Chaput and his wife Nancy of Richmond, NH, Bobbi Jo Daudelin of Winchester, NH, Linda L. Biagiotti and her husband John of Pittsfield, MA, Terri L. Finke and her husband Doug of Seminole, FL, Tina L. Hughes of Ocala, FL, Toni S. Powling and her husband Calvin of Newfane, VT, Robert E. Chaput, Jr. and his wife Amy of Swanzey, NH.
Along with seven children, he had several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
He was predeceased by his wife, Joyce Chaput, his father Victor Chaput, his mother Ella Chaput, and two siblings.
Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, June 14, 2024 from 5:00pm to 7:00 pm at Fletcher Funeral Home, 33 Marlboro Street, Keene, NH. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, June 15th at 10:00 am at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Swanzey, NH.
