His parents, Medor C. and Mignonne F. (Dupont) Parent welcome their son into the world on April 2, 1948, in St. Albans, VT. He grew up on the family farm in Hinesburg, VT.
Richard proudly served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War from October of 1968 until his honorable discharge on August 25, 1971, and was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries sustained during combat. He was a lifelong member of the Gordon Bissell American Legion Keene Post #4.
Following his military obligation, Rick moved to Westmoreland. He had a love for cars and his work career centered on this love, working with Snell Auto Parts in Keene, NH and as a shipper of car parts and repair of cars with Ames Performance in Marlborough, NH.
Rick purchased and completely rebuilt five Pontiac Fierro’s, enjoying every minute and every ounce of his being to rebuild each to perfection. He puts his skilled hands to work in making furniture and wooden bowls as well.
He was an avid golfer and a member of the Bellows Falls, VT Country Club. Following his retirement, he enjoyed mowing the greens and tinkering with golf cart repairs at the club.
He will be greatly missed by many, especially his daughter, Tonya M. Trubiano and her husband, Marc, of Surry, NH; his grandchildren, Kaylyn Trubiano, Carter Trubiano and a grandson on the way; two brothers, Lee Parent of St. Albans, Roger Parent of Burlington, VT; his nieces and nephews, Roger Parent, Suzanne Austin and her husband, Jeff, Helen and Tim Hyldburg, Amanda Parent, Christine Parent; several extended family members; and his longtime friends who were like family to Rick, Brian and Marilee Tilton, Carolyn Szoc, Danny and Lolly Sherburne with whom he spent many nights playing cards with, and Scott Gendron. His dear friend, Paul Szoc predeceased him.
Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday, February, February 18, 2024 from 1:00 to 3:00pm at the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene. Burial will be held privately by the family.
