He was born on June 6, 1949, in Bellows Falls, VT, to Joseph and Hattie (Parker) Horton. He moved to Keene in 1964. He was a 1967 graduate of Keene High School. He was formerly employed by Sprague & Carleton, Kingsbury’s, Melanson’s and Timken.
He was a NASCAR fan, and played on the Kingsbury’s softball and broomball teams. And, he was a volunteer with the Richmond and Meadowood Volunteer Fire Departments. He was also a member of the Loyal Order of Moose.
He is survived by two sons: Bruce Higley and his wife Karen of Kentucky and David Horton of Keene; three daughters: Ronda Catron and her husband Chris of SC, Tara Roderick of Winchester and Karena Cullop and her husband Donnie of VA; two sisters: Lillian Turner of Bellows Falls and Joyce Gay of Gaugeville, VT., as well as 9 grandchildren.
Services will be held Wednesday at the Fletcher Funeral Home at 10 AM. Calling Hours will be held Tuesday evening from 6 pm until 8 pm. Burial will follow the services at the Saxtons River Cemetery in Saxtons River, VT.
