He was born in Hillsborough, NH on February 12, 1922, the son of John and Pauline Helen (Martin) Blanchard. Raymond attended area schools.
He married Julia A. Cobb on July 18, 1944, in a ceremony in Keene. Julia died on April 29, 2003 after 59 years of marriage. They started their new life together raising 4 children in Gilsum, NH before moving to Arch Street in Keene, NH. In later years, he would winter in Zephyrhills, FL and summers were spent on Spofford Lake.
Ray was employed at and later retired from Central Screw Company, Keene. During retirement he enjoyed many wonderful trips within the United States with Hawaii and cruising being his favorites. In addition, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends on the lake with countless cookouts and cruising around the lake on his platoon boat and watching and attending many NASCAR races. Ray biggest joy was his cats. In the last eight years he had up to five cats at one time. He was also active with the Spofford Seniors Citizens group.
He is survived by many family members from New Hampshire, Maine and as far away as Alaska, including several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife: Julia Blanchard, and his daughters: Shirley Ellis, Mildred Forbes, Linda Fletcher and Norma (Jeanne) Meijers.
A graveside Memorial Service will be held on Monday, June 6, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Chesterfield West Cemetery on Poor Road in Chesterfield. There are no public calling hours.
