Patricia Mae (Grant) Vetre, 82, of Richmond, NH died peacefully in her sleep Sunday, April 29, 2018, at Applewood Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Winchester, NH after a short period of failing health.
Pat was born in East Weymouth, Mass, daughter of the late Frances (Miller) and Raymond Grant. She graduated from Machias High School in Machias, Maine. Later she worked at GE in Connecticut.
Moving from Connecticut, she and her husband lived in Winchester and Richmond, NH. After her husband passed, she lived at the Winchester Senior Housing Community for about four years before choosing to move into The Carpenter Home, an assisted living facility in Swanzey, NH. She and her cat, Nemo loved the family-like atmosphere, the home-cooked meals, the activities, and all her friends there.
Pat had a wonderful, witty sense of humor. She was a very generous person and would do anything for a friend. This world has lost a truly beautiful woman.
She will be deeply missed by her large extended family including her nieces and nephews; her brothers-in-law, Edward and Anthony, both of Connecticut; her half-sister, Kathleen, of Newton, MA; and her special friends and adopted family of Richmond. She is predeceased by her husband, Francis Vetre; her siblings, Barbara Borland, Helen Vane, Robert Grant, and Raymond “Buster” Grant; and her niece, Joyce Grange; and nephew, Sean Beaudoin.
As an act of altruism for the betterment of society, Pat made a plan to donate her body to an Anatomical Gift Program at a medical school.
A memorial mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at 10:00AM in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Richmond Road, Winchester, NH.
For those who wish, donations may be made in Pat’s memory to the Monadnock Humane Society Boarding and Daycare Center, 101 West Swanzey Road, Swanzey, NH 03446.
