Born on July 20, 1927, in Brooklyn, New York, to Dorothy and August Emil Raschdorf, she cherished family, pets, crossword puzzles, and all things dark chocolate.
Among her cherished childhood memories were her adventures horseback riding as a member of the Stablemates, where she forged lifelong friendships. Muriel possessed a keen intellect and in 1945 was offered a scholarship to pursue chemistry, which she turned down, prioritizing her family instead. Later, she found fulfillment as a two-time Past Matron in the Order of Eastern Star. In the 1970s and 80s, she and her husband owned and operated the Rocky Brook Motel and Gift Shop in Keene. In retirement, Muriel and her sister-in-law Catherine were active volunteers and received recognition from several organizations such as the ASPCA and the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Despite battling Alzheimer's disease in recent years, Muriel's long-term memory remained intact, and she found joy in sharing her life stories with loved ones. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her son, Paul Bach, her daughter-in-law, Patti Bach, and her son-in-law, Derek Stone. Remembered fondly by her grandchildren Bob, Tyler, and Maureen Bach, Matthew Stone, (Kecia), and Tracy Sullivan (Sean), as well as by her six great-grandchildren, Trenton Stone, Brixton Stone, Kinsley Stone, Aiden Sullivan, Cormic Sullivan and Brianna Sullivan. Muriel was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Edward Bach, her daughter, Linda Muriel Stone, her brother, Walter Emil Raschdorf, and her sister-in-law, Catherine Bach.
Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 from 10:00 to 11:00am at the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene. A graveside committal service will follow at 11:30am in the Monadnock View Cemetery, Park Avenue, Keene. Family and friends are welcome to attend both services.
