He was born in Staten Island, NY on September 15, 1931, the son of Anthony R. and Catherine (DiGioia) D’Alessio.
A 1953 graduate of Wagner College, he received his dental degree from NYU in 1957.
After serving as a Captain in the US Army in Berlin, Germany, Dr. D’Alessio made the decision to start his dental practice in Keene in 1959.
He became active in the Keene community, serving on the Planning Board; a member of the Kiwanis; and Board President of The Woodward Home. At St. James Church, he was a Vestry member, Sunday School Superintendent and Bell Choir member.
He was a great music lover and played the piano every day. He was an ardent fan of both the Boston Red Sox and the New York Giants. Farming and self-sufficient living also became passions. For nearly 50 years, Dr. D’Alessio was dedicated to the well-being of the staff and patients at his community dental practice. But he never let his profession or his interest interfere with a complete devotion to his family.
A man of great integrity, honor and humility, his survivors include his wife of 59 years, Joan (Romer) D’Alessio of Keene; son, Stephen D’Alessio and his wife, Janice, of Keene; son David D’Alessio and his wife, Keppie, of Rutherfordton, NC; daughter Kate D’Alessio, RN, of Prescott, AZ; brother Anthony D’Alessio and his wife, Ruthann, of Keene; sister, Kathy D’Alessio and her husband, Robert Pecor, of Keene; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Wall of Morris Plains, NJ; and his much loved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces and dear friends.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 13th at 3:30PM in St. James Episcopal Church, 44 West Street, Keene. Everyone is welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to The Woodward Home, 194-202 Court Street, Keene, NH 03431, or to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
