Kathleen “Kate” Brennan Stohr, 57, a resident of Spofford, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loved ones, on Monday, April 14, 2014, following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
She was born April 16, 1956, in Milford, Connecticut, the daughter of Joseph R. and Nancy Parkinson Brennan. Kate was a 1974 graduate of Milford High School. She was a lifelong learner; currently enrolled in an Early Childhood Development Program at Granite State College, she continued to work towards her Bachelor’s degree.
Kate loved children and had devoted much of her life to both her children and the children she was able to work with through her work at the Chesterfield Elementary School. Before her time working in Chesterfield, she worked for Arthur Whitcomb’s for more than fourteen years. Those who knew her throughout her employment in both locations knew her to be a loving, genuine and devoted person. Kate also had a special interest in the preservation of the community in which she lived and therefore became Trustee of the Chesterfield Public Library.
Kate loved her family very much and enjoyed spending time with them whenever she could, especially her children. She enjoyed being outdoors and participating in activities such as skiing, kayaking, hiking and walking her dog, Ringo. She loved to draw and paint in her free time. She enjoyed cooking and providing a love-filled home, for her children, friends and extended family. She was an amazing mother and friend.
Kate is survived by her children: Benjamin J. and Samantha A. Stohr of Spofford, NH, her mother: Nancy Brennan, her sister: Patricia Brennan and her husband Dr. Charles Haigh, her brothers: Robert M. Brennan and his wife Sara, Michael J. Brennan and his wife Carol, all of Milford, CT and John T. Brennan of Longwood, FL, along with nieces, nephews and extended family members. She is predeceased by her father and her husband: Andrew F. Stohr.
Kate’s family would like to offer a special thank you to all of the family, friends and care-givers who helped make her final journey a little easier, through your acts of kindness and expressions of compassion.
A Celebration of Kate’s Life will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2014, from 2 to 4pm at the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene, NH. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Chesterfield Public Library, 524 Route 63, Chesterfield, NH. 03443.
