James "Jim" Joseph Powers Jr.

His parents, Marjorie (Marsilius) and James Joseph Powers, Sr. welcomed their son into the world on January 10, 1952, in Bridgeport, CT. He grew up in Trumbull, CT, and attended the Deveau School and the Phelps School, both in Paoli, PA.

Jim attended Keene State College receiving a Bachelor Degree in History. He continued his education at Keene State receiving a Master Degree in Occupational Education.

Jim’s work career focused in the field of safety and security, working for several years at Safety Environmental Control with Jerry Wolfe in Marlborough, NH; and later for over 25 years in security with C&S Wholesale Grocers.

He had a love for American history and politics, and was well spoken on the subject when conversations took place with family and friends. He was an avid golfer as well.

Jim is survived by his wife of 38 years, Maria P. (Masiello) Powers, of Keene; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Thomas and Susan Masiello, of West Chesterfield, NH; his nieces and nephews, Christopher Masiello, Michael Masiello, Alyssa Masiello, and Valerie Masiello; his first cousins, Diane Nichols and Cathy Burke; and his second cousins, Newman Marsilius IV and Christian Marsilius. His mother-in-law and father-in-law, Adeline and Peter Masiello; a brother-in-law, Peter Masiello; and a first cousin, Newman Marsilius III, predeceased him.

Services and burial in the Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport, CT, will be held privately by the family.
