She was born on February 1, 1923, in Keene, the daughter of Allen and Lillian (Castor) Nims.
On June 27, 1941, Helen married the love of her life, Maurice Swett. They spent 59 wonderful years together.
Mrs. Swett was a homemaker and enjoyed working on her many crafts. She and her husband loved camping, both in the White Mountains and across the United States as they traveled the country visiting family and friends. Her favorite pastimes were bowling, square dancing, and cake decorating. She earned many prizes at the Cheshire Fair for her baking talents.
She is survived by her two sons: Frank E. Swett and his wife Shirley of Sullivan, NH and Daniel L. Swett and his wife Joan, of Swanzey, NH; a daughter:
Sheila Swett and her husband Richard Thompson also of Swanzey, NH; a brother: Herbert Nims of Sullivan, NH; a sister: Martha Stone of Riverside, CA; seven grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Helen was predeceased by her husband, Maurice Swett, who died in 2000. Her siblings Frank Nims, Amos Nims, Stella Wyman, Isabelle Hale, Melissa Johnson, and Hazel Swett all died earlier.
An hour of visitation will be held at the Sullivan Congregational Church, 4 Church St., Sullivan, NH on Saturday, Sept 20, 2014 at 10:00. Funeral services will be held following the visitation, at 11:00. Burial will follow in the family lot in the Sullivan Center Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made, in Mrs. Helen E. Swett’s name, to the Sullivan Congregational Church, P.O. Box 73, Sullivan, NH 03445-0073.
