She was born in Roxbury, on July 12, 1916, the daughter of Earl J. and Emma L. (Byron) Russell. She attended Roxbury grades school and she attended Keene High School. She lived in Roxbury and Keene before moving to Swanzey in 1955.
She married Fred W. Sharkey, in Keene, on September 18, 1936.
Mrs. Sharkey worked for the C.L. Lane Bucket Company, Kingsbury Machine Tool Corp and then for MPB, for 23 years, before her retirement in1979.
She enjoyed sewing and cooking. She was a wonderful baker, often sending her goods off to family and friends for them to enjoy.
Mrs. Sharkey is survived by many nieces and nephews. Her husband Fred Sharkey died earlier. She is also predeceased by her siblings: Herbert Russell, Charles Russell, Earl Russell, Nellie Griswold, Emogene Johnson, Sylvia Russell and Pearl Carroll.
At the request of Mrs. Sharkey, there will be no public calling hours. A graveside service will also be held privately.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial donations may be made in Mrs. Gladys M. Sharkey’s name, to the Maplewood Nursing Home, 201 River Rd, Westmoreland, NH 03467 or to the charity of ones’ choice.
