She was born October 5, 1954, in Keene, New Hampshire, the daughter of Marion (Robinson) and Everett Knox, Sr. She was a life long resident of Sullivan, NH, and was a 1972 graduate of Monadnock High School. She received her LPN from Thompson School of Nursing and her RN from New Hampshire Tech. On November 2, 1974 she married the love of her life, Peter Cote.
Gladys opened her heart and her home to those who needed love and compassion: As a private nurse she offered her medical skills to those who were hurting and as a “Mother to Many” she opened her home to both family and strangers who needed the comfort of a loving home. Through her work as a nurse she was able to reach out to many people in the community. She worked as the Overseer of Public Welfare for the town of Sullivan, served on the Sullivan Volunteer Fire Department, and she also worked for Home Health Care for many years. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them, whether she was making brownies with her grandchildren or making a big pot of beef stew, she was happiest when she was around family.
She is survived by her husband of almost 37 years: Peter Cote of Sullivan, NH., two daughters: Tammy Whiting and her husband Robert of Keene, NH and Billie Jo Brown and her husband James of Linn, Missouri, her son: Peter Cote, II of Marlborough, NH., one sister: Fern “Mickey” Garrapy and her husband Robert of Maine, four brothers: Everett “Butch” Knox and his wife Peggy of Sullivan, NH., Lougee Knox and his wife Ruthann of Marlow, NH., Theron “Bill” Knox and his wife Linda of Keene, NH and Randy Knox of Concord, NH., nine grandchildren, two great-granddaughters and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
