He was born on November 14, 1946, in Keene, NH to Maurice and Helen Swett of Sullivan. He attended area schools and graduated from Monadnock Regional High School in Swanzey, NH, Class of 1964.
After graduation, he served in the US Army from 1965 to 1967, stationed in the US and Korea.
On December 6, 1969, Frank married the love of his life, Shirley Patterson, after having met while working together at AE Martel in Keene.
Prior to his retirement in 2011, Frank had been employed by MPB (now Timken) in Keene for nearly 40 years.
Frank was an avid hunter and fisherman, getting his first deer at age 16. He loved being outdoors in the woods, whether it be cutting wood to heat his home or just taking a leisurely walk. Frank also enjoyed riding snowmobiles and was an early member of the Sullivan Ridge Runners. He was also a sports lover, and he rooted endlessly for his beloved Red Sox. Frank played and coached for many years in the Greater Keene Men’s Softball league, his teams winning many league championships and tournaments.
Frank always put his family first, whether it be throwing the baseball or helping with homework. He was a simple man with simple needs but was the backbone of his family and always made sure everyone had what they needed before himself. Some of his most cherished moments were times spent with his granddaughters Madison and Olivia. Even when he was very sick his face would light up when they entered his room.
Frank will be dearly missed by his children: Frank Swett, Jr., and his wife Kimberly of Troy and Diane Knightly and her husband Donald of Troy; grandchildren: Madison Swett, Olivia Knightly and step grandson Kasey Dearth; siblings: Daniel Swett of Swanzey, NH, and Sheila Swett Thompson and her husband Dick also of Swanzey. Also, close friends and cousins Ken and Sandy Johnson of Keene; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
Frank was predeceased by his parents Maurice and Helen and his beloved wife of nearly 50 years Shirley.
A funeral service will be held Friday, September 27, 2024, at 10:00 am at the United Congregational Church, 4 Church Street, Sullivan, NH. Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, September 26 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Fletcher Funeral Home, 33 Marlboro Street, Keene, NH.
