He was born in Boston, Mass. on December 5, 1928, the son of Jane Loring (Noble) and Francis Fiske, Sr. Frank grew up in Brookline, MA and was a graduate of Phillips Exeter Academy, ‘46.
Frank went on to further his education, receiving a Bachelor Degree in Sociology from Harvard University (‘50) and later his Masters Degree in Special Education from Leslie College.
Mr. Fiske proudly served as a First Lieutenant, Engineer Instructor in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
He worked for many years teaching music, history, German and various other skills at a variety of schools in New England and Ohio. His musical skills were always in demand as a private teacher, accompanist for stage productions, and arranger and performer for various marching bands. He had a particular fondness for Dixieland Jazz and German Marches. He was a raconteur with a story for every occasion.
He will be greatly missed by many, especially his children, Sarah and Jack Williams of Madison, Wisconsin, Robert R. Fiske and Leslie Pohl of Portland, and Francis III “Todd” and Yelena Fiske of Windham, ME; grandchildren Loreley Fiske and Alma and Eliza Williams; His brother John Noble Fiske passed last year Their sister Jane Roberts resides in Walla Walla, WA.
A memorial service and celebration of Frank’s life will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 11:30AM in the Keene Unitarian Universalist Church, 69 Washington Street, Keene. Family and friends are most welcome.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Fiske’s memory to Keene Unitarian Universalist Church where he was an active member for 25 years before moving to Portland.
