Eva B. Wilcox, 96, of Las Cruces, NM, formerly of Marlborough, died Thursday afternoon, December 10, 2015, at the Mountain View Regional Medical Center in Las Cruces, New Mexico, following a period of declining health.
She was one of eleven children, born in Marlborough, on February 20, 1919, to George A and Corinne F (Ouellette) Beauregard. She was raised in and attended Marlborough schools.
After she completed school, she worked for a while as a loom weaver at the Monadnock Blanket Mill.
She married Leon D. Wilcox on November 30, 1939, in a ceremony at Sacred Heart Church in Marlborough. They were married for nearly 40 years before his death in 1978.
Together they had a family of nine children between them. She dedicated her life to taking care of the children, and family and her home.
They moved to Concord for about 27 years where she worked at Bishop Brady High School for a period of time, before returning to Marlborough in 1969, where she remained up until the last few years when she moved back and forth between Marlborough and Las Cruces, NM with her daughter.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, as well as its Women’s Auxiliary. In later years she became active in the Keene Senior Swingers.
She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, and as a family they spent many hours playing various games, remembered fondly were games of cards, cribbage and various board games. She also enjoyed music and singing, which she put to use when she became a member of the Senior Swingers.
She is survived by her daughter: Corinne Bellerose of Las Cruces, NM; two sons: Edward Wilcox and his wife Carol of Apache Junction, AZ and Ernest Wilcox his wife Mary Marsh of Concord, NH; 25 grand and step-grandchildren; numerous great and step-great grandchildren and Great great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was pre deceased by her husband, Leon D. Wilcox; her children and step children: Michele Wilcox, Dorothy Cullen, David Wilcox, Roger Turcotte, Donald Wilcox, Paul Wilcox; her sisters: Rita Way, Edna Frigon, Beatrice Labrie and Mildred Croteau; her brothers: Albert Beauregard, Leonard Beauregard, Norman Beauregard, Raymond Beauregard, Ernest Beauregard and Michel Beauregard.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held, at St. Bernard Church, 185 Main St, Keene, on Saturday, December 19, 2015, at 10:00 am. Burial will follow, at the Mt Calvary Cemetery in Marlborough. Calling Hours will be held on Friday, December 18, 2015, from 5:00 until 7:00 pm at the Fletcher Funeral Home.
