He was born in Keene, October 19, 1933, the son of Edward and Gertrude (Gamash) Bourassa Sr., and has resided in this region all of his life.
Mr. Bourassa graduated from Keene High School and went on to graduate from Keene Teachers College, class of 1956. He taught and was principal of the Hillsborough-Deering Consolidated High School. In 1963 he was instrumental in opening Monadnock Regional High School as the Social Studies Department Chairperson. In 1969 he was hired at Keene High School where he was a teacher and administrator for twenty years. He went on to supervise student teachers at Keene State.
Edward was an adjunct professor at Franklin Pierce College and at Keene State College, where he taught American history.
As a teacher of Russian history, he made trips to the former Soviet Union, and developed the York England exchange program, giving his students a first hand look at a different socities and cultures. His passion for education and the classroom will long be remembered by the students he taught.
Until illness prevented, Ed enjoyed playing piano with local musicians like the Allen Kendall Band and The Squires. He was a communicant of St. Bernard's Church in Keene.
Survivors include: his wife of 57 years, Patricia (Dyshlevich) Bourassa of Spofford, his sister-in-law Sophie Dyshlevich, a son Dana F. Bourassa and his wife Doreen of Amherst, three daughters: Kim McDonnell and her husband Joseph of Dolores CO., Shelley Pangonis and her husband Thomas of Keene and Terri Healy of Weare; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Services for Mr. Bourassa will be private. There are no public calling hours at this time. However, there will be a Memorial gathering some time in June of this year.
