Her parents, John G. and Doris E. (Guyette) McCarthy welcomed their daughter into the world on January 5, 1942, in Keene, NH. Donna grew up in Keene and was a 1960 graduate of Keene High School.
Donna resided in Surry, NH for five years before moving to Marlborough in 1970.
She worked for many years as an editor with the National Building News in Harrisville and later in Keene.
Donna loved the ocean, especially York Beach and Nubble Light of which, both were here favorite place that brought her great solace. She also enjoyed camping and over the years, her camping family became her best friends.
Donna was a "mother to all the neighborhood children". She enjoyed listening to country music and music from the 70’s.
She was a member of the Marlborough Fire Department auxiliary and the Keene Elks Emblem Club.
Donna will be greatly missed by many, especially her three children, David Mitchell and his wife, Dianne of Sharon, NH, Daniel "Danny" Mitchell and his wife, Lisa of Marlborough, Deborah "Debbie" Clark and her husband, Jason, of Stratham, NH; her grandchildren, Alyssa Rood, Christopher Mitchell, Mariah Mitchell, Brittanie Clark, Sydney Brown and her husband, Pete, Cameron Clark, Abby Mitchell; a great-granddaughter, Maeby Rood; her brother, Tim McCarthy and his wife, Joanne, of Indian Trail, NC; a sister, Andrea Rokes of Brimfield, MA; and several nieces, nephews and extended family members. Her husband of 23 years, Elmer "Fudd" Grover Jr. whom she married at Stone Pond in Marlborough on August 10, 1991, predeceased her on March 1, 2024.
A celebration of Donna’s life will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, from 11:00am until 3:00pm at the Marlborough House, 9 Ling Street, Marlborough. Family and friends are welcome. Burial in the Meeting House Cemetery, Marlborough will be held privately by the family.
