He was born in Keene, on July 19, 1945, to Basil and Elaine (Clark) Cray Sr. As a child the family moved back and forth between Maine and NH, he was a 1964 graduate of Brewer High School in Brewer ME.
He married Jeanne E Ball, in a ceremony at the First Congregational Church of Keene, on February 18, 1978.
Mr. Cray was a machinist by trade, and worked for the Kingsbury Corporation in Keene for over 24 years. He then went to work for TIMKEN Corporation for another 15 plus years until his retirement in 2012.
Mr. Cray was a longtime member of the Beth-El Bible Church in Surry.
He was a very outdoorsy kinda guy. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking and camping with his family, and even walking his beloved dog Loko. Any time spent with his family was cherished, whether inside in a game of cards, bowling or playing ping pong or outside playing horseshoes, softball or basketball.
He is survived by his wife, of 38 years: Jeanne E Cray of Keene; his children: Lance Cray and his wife Cathy, of Lebanon, ME, Joshua Cray and his fiancée Heather of Keene, and Jason Cray and his wife Amanda of Westmoreland; his five grandchildren: Matthew, Kiahna, Nero, Romello and Jayce; his eight siblings: Basil Cray, Jr. and his wife Mae of Palmyra, ME, Frank Cray and his wife Margaret of Weare, NH, Jim Cray and his wife Sandy of Lebanon, ME, Doug Cray and his wife Debbie of Milford, NH, Carol Sakers of Holiday, FL, Laurie Lancey and her husband Doug of Troy, Diane Magyar and her husband Bob of Odessa, FL, and Cheryl LaPointe and her husband Tim of Swanzey; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and a nephew: Kevin Cray.
There will be a service, celebrating the life of David, on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at 11:00 at the Beth-El Bible Church, 13 Village Rd, Surry, NH 03431. There will be an hour of visitation, prior to the service, from 10:00 until 11:00. Burial will follow the services in the Monadnock View Cemetery in Keene.
