In remembrance of a lovely woman on this day.

Claire Cummings-Janey was a good friend of mine from childhood.  We attended Hoydal Private School, Headmaster was Reginald Hoyte.   This was in Georgetown, Guyana 🇬🇾.  She and I were classmates.  She was a lovely person, always with a smile, very brilliant in school 🏫.  Then she left with her siblings to join her mother who was residing in the USA at a young age of 11.  I lost my good friend.  We got into a lot of mischievous stuff but it was all good.  I reconnected with her again in early 2019 through her cousin Lorraine Halley-Edinboro who lives in Brooklyn and boy what a reunion it was.  We talked for hours as we were catching up on old times.  I asked for Courtney, Camille and Correa and she said that they were okay.  She told me that she worked for Transit, and she now lives in New Hampshire.  Then a few months later my dear sister friend died.  I was so saddened by her sudden passing and so young.  Continue to Rest In Eternal 
Peace Claire.  I miss you sincerely.

I will miss my friend so much!  Claire and I shared a 30+ yr friendship.   She was as so many other have said , a rock.   She  was brave,  compassionate, truth telling and  deeply loving.  She was a member of my family. 

She came to Atlanta, and cared for me.  That was a true blessing !!!  We had so many good times and made many  memories I love you, mi pal as we so fondly called ourselves.

I would just like to say that I enjoyed Claire’s Going Home Service today.  Courtney you did a fine Eulogy.

You may or may not remember me but I was a friend of hers from childhood as we attended Hoydal Private School 🏫 in
Garnet Street, Campbellville.  Reginald Hoyte was the Headmaster.  Those were good days.

I had the privilege to speak with Claire late last year and earlier this year.  Thanks to your cousin Lorraine who provided me with her phone ☎️ number what a joy it was to speak to her.  At Hoydal Private School Claire was 10 and I was 12.  I am so saddened at her passing.  May she Rest In Peace and Rise in Glory.

I live in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada 🇨🇦 for 41 years.  Retired of course. 

Condolences to Claire’s children and grandchildren along with siblings Camille and Corinne who I remembered as well.  I only remember you guys at a very young age before you left for America 🇺🇸 in the 60’s.  God bless.  I just wanted to say what a beautiful service it was.  I had a hard time getting in on Zoom but I finally did.  I kept saying Claire you don’t want me to join in but by the hooks I did.  Love ❤️ you my dear friend.  Rest In Peace ☮️ 

Oh my dearest Claire, Claire was such a wonderful lady. I met Claire in 2016 when she came to Anguilla for a peaceful and well rested vacation.

We enjoyed lots of laughter and dinner out at times.
I do have a key ring with her handsome grandson that she gave to my grand daughter, when she gave it to her she said  YOU HAVE TO MARRY HIM.

Oh we laughed so much.

A SPECIAL LADY IS AT REST AND AT PEACE.  

Auntie Claire has been a part of my life practically since day 1 because her firstborn Alisa and I were born 2 days apart. 
I always thought she was so cool. Just mellow and down to earth and unbothered way before that was a thing. 
I am grateful for the the relationship she and my Mom had that allowed me and my sisters to be so closely connected to my cousins. Who can forget the Empire Roller Rink weekends :-)
I’m so happy I got to see her one last time, even though I didn’t know at the time it would be the last.

I will always remember you for your beautiful smile, calm demeanor and how much you love my son and cared for our grandchildren. I no you are now in a better place free of pain and heartaches. Rest In Peace my friend. So glad we were able  to celebrate Kalilah’s High School graduation together 

Growing up I met Claire thru my friendship with her sister Margret. Claire became like a big sister to me. She would give me advice when she felt I needed it and didn't hold anything back. She kept it real, that's what I loved about her.

On my wedding day late November of `1998 Claire opened her home on Midwood St. helping me to prepare for my special day. She helped me put on my wedding gown. put the pearls around my neck and made shore that my hair was right. She gave me a hug and told me how beautiful I looked.

Thank you, Claire for making my day so special. I love you, and will miss you dearly.

About 30 years ago, Claire and I started working together at NYC Transit.  Over time, we became friends.  My fondest memories of Claire was all the knowledge she shared, our long discussions about life where she spoke her mind and didn’t hold anything back.

I also remember her fashionable clothes and many hats.  Oh yeah and I can’t forget about those delicious cod fish cakes.  They were the best.  When she would make them, she would sneak some aside in a baggie and bring them to work for me 😊.

I’m offering heartfelt condolences with deepest sympathy for your loss.  Claire will truly be missed.  Rest in Peace.

I can’t believe my dear friend is gone. My best vacations were spent with Claire when we would vacation in St Martin every March at our time share. There we shared so many girlfriend moments and didn’t have a care in the world. I could always depend on Claire to tell it like it is and she held nothing back. One of the strongest persons I’ve ever known.  I will miss her immensely. My heart goes out to her family. Claire May you rest in peace

I met Claire over 30 years ago when we both worked for NYC Transit.   We were co-workers and then became fast friends.  We would often go out to dinner with two other co-workers,  Annette and Beatrice and called ourselves the "posse ".  For the last several years we would vacation together ❤ with a group of friends and had a ball.  I am going to miss the times we shared and am praying for all of Claire's family.

In 2018 Claire, Debbie, Jamie, Jennifer, Claire’s sister and myself went to DR. We had a wonderful time just us girls.    I will miss Claire. May she Rest In Peace.  The family has my deepest sympathy .

I am so saddened by the loss of my childhood friend Claire Cummings-Janey. Condolences to her family and friends and may they accept this demise with Christian fortitude.  

I met Claire in Private School in Georgetown, Guyana, South America.  I was 12 and she was 11 years old.  We were very close, sat in the same class and on the same bench side by side.  Our school recess we would run to the shop next door and buy sweet bread and mauby or sometimes peanut punch before we go back to school.  She was a wonderful, kind, caring, loving, supportive dear childhood friend of mine.  Everyday after school I would hang out at her home where she lived with her parents, siblings, grandmother and cousin Lorraine who subsequently became my friend after Claire and her siblings migrated to the USA as their mother was already living in that country.  

About less than a year ago I got information on her in the form of a phone number.  I gladly called, identified myself and we spoke for over an hour.  She was so happy to hear from me and we happily caught up on our wonderful childhood days growing up in Guyana.  She told me that she was married and had two beautiful daughters.  We spoke another time and that was in April 2021.  It was such a joy to speak to her again.  Then yesterday, I received the sad news from her cousin Lorraine that she had passed.  I spoke with Lorraine for awhile and after hanging up did I ever cried.  I am so distraught at her passing.  

May my dear friend Rest In Peace ☮️ and Rise in Glory.  Sincere condolences to her entire family.  In writing this message I am very tearful.  Claire God be with you.  You left Guyana 🇬🇾 in the 60’s and I never saw you again.

Claire was the best chosen big sister that God blessed me with.  She was crazy enough to let Margaret and I take our nieces (Alisa & Niama) for rides on the back of our 10 speed bikes through the streets of Brooklyn with no helmets! I don't think the girls were more than 4 or 5 years old.  We had a great time!
