A beautiful, kindhearted and sometimes stubborn soul, Chris G. Bingham 70, of Avon Park, Florida and a former longtime resident of Keene, NH, fought a courageous battle against cancer until her last breath, passing away on Saturday, September 16, 2017, surrounded in the love of her family, at her daughter’s home in Vernon, Vermont.
She was born in Bellows Falls, Vermont on July 2, 1947, the daughter of Albert and Edith (Richardson) Westcott.
Chris grew up in West Swanzey and was a 1965 graduate of Monadnock Regional High School in Swanzey, NH.
She had a deep abiding faith and was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court Josephine No. 319 for over 50 years. She was also a longtime parishioner of St. Bernard Church in Keene.
Chris shared a special bond with her husband, Ron, working side-by-side with him for 40 years in their business, B&B Vacs. She also worked for 10 years as an office clerk with Peerless Insurance Company in Keene, retiring in 2001.
Following their retirement, Chris and Ron began a new chapter in their lives by spending the winters in Avon Park, Florida. It was there that she gained another family starting with the ‘Wendy’s Lunch Bunch.’
She was never one to back down from a goodhearted water fight. She was always ready to go whether it was for a ride or out to dinner. Her love of the ocean brought her to the beach from Maine to Florida, with many a seashell found along the way.
Her sun rose and set around her family, especially her three grandchildren, whom she always had a special twinkle in her eyes, and a huge smile on her face whenever they could be together, creating many special memories. She also had a fondness for dogs, especially her Old English Sheepdogs.
She will be missed by many, especially her husband of 50 years, Ronald P. Bingham of Avon Park, FL; her two daughters, Lisa B. Murray Young and her husband, Wil Young, of Vernon, VT and Shannon T. Pendilla and her husband, Darrell, of Keene; her three grandchildren, Kyle Murray, Derrick Pendilla, and Jordyn Pendilla; and a sister, Kathleen Whippie and her husband, Ronald, of Swanzey. She was predeceased by a sister, Doreen Westcott.
A celebration of Christine’s life will be held Friday, September 22, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00PM in the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs. Bingham’s memory to the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute, 12902 USF Magnolia Drive #1, Tampa, FL 33612-9497, or to the Dana Faber Cancer Institute, PO Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168.
