Barbara J. Livengood

She was born in Keene, NH at the former Elliot Community Hospital, on March 28, 1939, and was raised by Donald Davis and Jessie (Ball) Davis. She spent most of her younger years growing up in Sullivan, NH.

After graduating in 1956 from Keene High School, she began nursing school at the Elliot Community Hospital.

She married Neil (Bud) Livengood, Sr. on November 16, 1959, and together they proceeded to start a family.

Barbara worked all of her life, spending the majority of those working years at David Ford and MPB Corporation, both of Keene. After retirement in March of 2001, she was the office manager at the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie 1413.

She was a longtime member of the United Congregational Church of Sullivan. She also enjoyed reading, music and the theater.

Survivors include her children, Neil Livengood, Jr. and his wife, Cindy, of North Swanzey, NH, Dave Livengood and his wife, Tara, of Sullivan, John Livengood and his wife, Pam of Keene, George (Buzz) Livengood and his wife, Heather, of Los Angeles, CA; her step-daughter, Sue Goodchild of Keene; her brother, Richard Davis and his wife, Arline of Tenants Harbor, ME; sisters, Lucille Saturley of Troy, NH and Claire Oakley and her husband, Sid, of Newport, RI; her cousin and dear friend, Warren Thayer of Sullivan; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and her longtime companion, Brian Houghton of Keene. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband of 40 years, Neil A. “Bud” Livengood, Sr., and her sisters, Margie Neveu and Verna Price.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, June 27, 2015 at 10:30AM in the United Congregational Church, Centre Street, Sullivan. Burial will be private. Family and friends are invited to call on Friday evening from 7:00 to 9:00PM at the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions be made to The Community Kitchen, PO Box 1315, Keene, NH 03431, or to the Monadnock Humane Society, 101 West Swanzey Road, West Swanzey, NH 03446.
