He was born in Manchester, NH August 31, 1924 son of Philbert A. and Imelda (Ricard) Paquette. He attended St. George Elementary and St Joseph High School in Manchester, NH. He then attended the University of NH and after returning from military service he transferred to and graduated from the University of Maine with a B.S. in Civil Engineering.
Armand’s education at UNH was interrupted to serve in the US Navy. He was honorably discharged from the Navy with the rank of ETM3C in 1946.
In 1944 while serving, he married Pauline Hoffman, who was also in the US Navy. They were married for 51 years until her death from cancer.
After graduation he went to work for Reed & Reed Bridge Builders building bridges in Maine. Later he worked for Paquette Construction building more bridges including several in Massachusetts as well as the concrete portion of McDowell Dam in Peterborough, NH. He then went to work as the Chief Architect for the Federal Housing Administration for the State of NH working out of the Manchester office.
In 1959 he moved his family to Keene and started Pako Homes Inc.and built nearly 1,000 homes in NH and VT including Pako Park, Maple Acres, Long Meadow and Hinsdale Heights. After closing Pako Home he started Paquette Appraisal in the mid 70’s where he worked until his retirement at the age of 82.
In June of 1996 Armand married his second wife Pauline C. Boynton. They were married for 15 years until her death from cancer.
He was a member of the NH Association of Realtors from 1959 until his retirement. Armand was Realtor of the Year for the state in 1975 and the Monadnock Realtor President for 1971 - 1972. He was a founder and first president of Homebuilders Association of Southwestern NH and president of the NH Association of Home Builders. He was also chairman of the Keene Planning Board. Armand was a member of the Keene Lon’s Club, Keene Chamber of Commerce, Elks Club and also the Keene Country Club where he enjoyed playing golf for over 50 years. Armand was also a communicant at St. Bernard’s Church of Keene.
Survivors include his sister Irene Driscoll of Manchester, NH, one son Armand L Paquette and his fiancé Deborah Howell of Palm Harbor, FL, one daughter Diane Albrycht and her husband Paul of Southington, CT and one step son Mark Boynton and his wife MaryAnn of Keene, NH, six grandchildren Russell Albrycht of Meriden, CT, Denise Martin and her husband Joseph of Meriden, CT, Heather Landrie of Southington, CT and Keith Albrycht and his wife Christie of Southington, CT, Matthew Boynton of Philadelphia, PA and Derek Boynton of Keene, NH, and four great grandchildren all of CT. He was predeceased by his parents, a brother Gerald, first wife Pauline Hoffman Paquette in 1995 and second wife Pauline Cote Paquette in 2011.
A memorial mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 3rd, at 11:00AM in St. Margaret Mary Church, 33 Arch Street, Keene. Burial with military honors will follow the mass at 2:15PM in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Road, Manchester, NH.
