Arlene Florence (Fish) Brown, 83, a resident of Holly Springs, North Carolina and former resident of Keene, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully at the Spring Arbor and the Oaks, Assisted Living Facility in Raleigh, North Carolina, on Wednesday, January 16, 2013.
She was born March 22, 1929, in Keene, New Hampshire, the daughter of David and Lelia (Durant) Fish. On May 8, 1948 she married the love of her life, Homer Brown.
Arlene was a very loving and compassionate person who loved her family very much. She enjoyed visiting her family in the various states in which they live. She and her husband were very active members of the Parish of the Holy Spirit, serving as members of the congregation at St. Margaret Mary Church on Arch Street in Keene, NH. She was also a member of the Choir at the church. Arlene was very creative and was able to make many special things by crocheting: She made hundreds of dolls which she would give to people she knew, especially those who meant so much to her. She was also a wonderful cook: she made the best Tuna Casserole, apple pies and peanut butter fudge.
She is survived by three daughters: Kathleen Padgett and her husband Keith of Holly Springs, NC., Mary Skiba and her husband Bud of Portland, OR., and Dr. Lynda Randall of Tustin, CA., her son: Tony Brown of West Swanzey, NH., seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, four sister in laws Patricia Fish, Margaret Fish, Claudette Fish and Jessie Fish, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is predeceased by her husband of sixty-four years: Homer Brown, her son: David Brown, six brothers: Gerald Fish, Edward Fish, Leonard Fish, Reginald Fish, Donald Fish, and Kenneth Fish, and two sisters: Dorothy Fish and Beverly Haag.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Margaret Mary Church on Arch Street in Keene, NH., on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at 11:00am. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery on Main Street in Keene, NH. Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, January 22, 2013, from 6 to 8 pm, at the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene, NH.
