He was born in Keene, NH on January 7, 1934 the son of John B. and Marie Regina (Lamoureaux) Olivo.
He was a lifelong resident of Keene and attended Keene schools. He was a US Navy veteran and was and proudly served his country for eight years. He joined the US Navy on October 21, 1951 and was assigned to the US Naval Station in Key West, FL. He faithfully served on active duty until November 16, 1954 and then served in the Navy reserves until October 30, 1959 when he was honorably discharged.
He was very proud of his Sicilian ancestry and was affectionately called Nino by his family. He was the youngest of the four Olivo children. He was predeceased by his brother John Olivo and his sisters; Pauline Goslant, and Maria Harper.
In the years following his military service, Mr. Olivo was employed in various jobs in the Keene and surrounding area. His last job being at Keene State College from which he retired.
In his senior years he was an active member and participant at the Keene Senior Citizen Center, entertaining the members as well as participating in the Keene Senior Citizens Center “Swinger” productions throughout the years. He loved music and played the guitar and sang in numerous local bands. He was lover of all music and particularly fond of Country and Western Music. His love of the arts was further expressed through his drawings and paintings, which he loved to share with his family. He was also a lover of animals, especially cats, he made his home a safe sanctuary for the abandoned.
He was a member of the Parish of the Holy Spirit and was a communicant at St. Margaret Mary Church in Keene. He was a former member of the Gordon-Bissell Post 4 American Legion in Keene.
He is survived by two daughters; Toni Lee Olivo of Keene, NH and Dori Clark of Claremont, NH; five sons; Tony Olivo of Rindge, NH, Timothy Olivo of Hancock, NH, Troy Olivo of Indiana, Trevor Olivo of Jaffrey, NH and Terry Olivo of Keene; ten grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by two brothers-in-law Norman Harper of Keene and Jerry Goslant of Winchester, NH.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Margaret Mary Church, 33 Arch Street, Keene, NH on Friday, December 12, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at the St. Joseph Cemetery in the spring. Family and friends are invited to call at the Foley Funeral Home,49 Court Street, Keene on Friday morning, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the mass.
