Shirley A. Hunt, of Keego Harbor, Michigan, passed away peacefully at home on April 14th, 2023, at age 75, after a long battle with endometrial cancer. Formerly of Pontiac, she graduated from Pontiac Central High School in 1965. She married her loving husband, Thomas H. Hunt, on January 4th, 1969; they celebrated 54 years together in 2023. She worked for AT&T (formerly Michigan Bell and Ameritech) for 30 years as a telephone operator, retiring in 2001, and was a member of the Communications Workers of America Union. She was actively involved in the community as a member of the Harbor Garden Club (Keego Harbor), the Pontiac Garden Club, and the Oakland Pioneer and Historical Society, where she served as a volunteer docent and lecturer. She also was a Brownie and Girl Scouts leader, art history lecturer to school children, and therapeutic riding volunteer. She had an abiding passion for cats, horses and equestrian sports, literature, art and crafting, but gardening and photography were her greatest passions, along with spending time with her large extended family. She is survived by her husband Thomas H. Hunt and her daughter Kimberly N. Hunt-Lowrance, DVM, along with many devoted nephews, nieces and in-laws. Viewing will be held on Friday, April 21st from 4-8 pm at Family Funeral Care at 2904 Orchard Lake Rd., Keego Harbor, Mi. The funeral will be held at the same venue on Saturday, April 22nd at 11:30 am. Memorial donations can be made to the Oakland County Pioneer and Historical Society or the Cornell Feline Health Center.
