Betty J. Heckert

Betty J. Heckert, age 91, was borne to eternal life on August 23, 2022. She was born June 25, 1931, in Detroit Michigan, the daughter of Margaret and Paul Hart. Betty was the oldest girl of eight children. She moved to Phoenix, AZ in 1988.

Betty graduated from St. Cecilia High School and went on to the University of Detroit. Her fondest memories are the times she spent with the Department of State Foreign Service, where at the time, she was the youngest female to work in this government division. Her travels took her to Washington D.C., Rome, Tripoli and Bonn. The six years in the Foreign Service gave her a deep love for her country, politics, reading and international travel. She will be remembered for her love of her family, friends, and her gentle nature and wit.

Betty was preceded by her husband, Robert Heckert. She is survived by her four children, Christopher (Shelly) of South Carolina, Linda Grabowski (Edward) of Arizona, Matthew (Jeannie) of Michigan and Andrew of Arizona, along with her beloved eight grandchildren. The family asks that Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers be made to H & A Family Care Home of Gilbert, AZ.

A celebration of life will be held at a future date.
