William Douglas Moyer

A much-loved Husband, Father, and Grandpa Texas, William Douglas Moyer, 59, of Katy, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home March 29, 2014 with his family present. He bravely confronted and fought Glioblastoma brain cancer for the past 15 months. He was born on February 23, 1955 in Long Beach, California, resided in Taft, California for 30 years before moving to Katy in 2006. He graduated from Yucca Valley High School in 1973 and attended California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.

Doug was employed at West Side Oil Construction, Taft CA from 1976–1982, Arco Oil and Gas from 1982–1999, BP Pipeline Engineering in Algeria, Africa from 1999-2005, Houston TX BP Colorado Project 2006-2010, BP Project Construction Manager at In Amenas Africa from 2010-2012. He was an avid bicyclist; rode in the BP MS 150 from Houston to Austin for three years and taught spinning classes for his coworkers at the Algerian camp. He enjoyed his three beautiful grandchildren for which he shared his passion of bicycling, the desert for which he was raised never left his heart and took great pride in the manicuring of his lawn and gardening. It was his daily task to stay fit with spinning, his favored and anything outdoors especially cattle ranching in California.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Anita Moyer of Katy; daughter Amber Moyer Giese, (Mike) Ankeny, IA; son Levi Moyer (Jessica) Maricopa, CA; grandchildren Whitney and Cord Moyer and Hannah Giese; brother Richard Moyer (Katie) Annapolis, MD; Sister in law Julie Cazzell (Mike) Bakersfield, CA; Sister in law Joni Dietrich (Bill) Evansville, WY; nephews Jake (Lexi), Tyler, Will and Garrett Moyer; Connor Cazzell; Bryce, Brooks, Brandon (Lauren) Fleharty. He is preceded in death by his parents William Leonard Moyer and Mae Hass Moyer.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am Thursday, April 3, 2014, at Living Word Lutheran Church, Katy, TX 77450. Reception to follow at the Church.
