Tommy Joe Ford was born on February 28,1929 and passed away on March 25, 2025 – living a full life of 96 years. He was born in Houston and graduated from San Marcos Baptist Academy where he attended high school. He was an avid sports fan and lettered in football, basketball, and boxing at San Marcos Baptist Academy. He served in Korea after which he attended Baylor University and the University of Houston. He married the love of his life Hazel Davis to whom he was married for 68 years. Tom and Hazel had two children, Donna and Gary. Tom worked at jobs in a chemical plant, sales, and managed a manufacturing plant. One of his high school friends called him the emperor of small talk. He determined he had a true gift for sales and eventually began his own successful business which is still operating to this day. One of his mottos was that he wasn’t the smartest guy, but he could be the hardest working. He rarely missed a Houston Oilers game and attended most local games in person. Tom and Hazel enjoyed traveling to visit friends and family. Some of their trips included national parks, Alaska, many other parts of the United States and Europe when Donna and Keith were stationed in Germany. Tom treasured his close friends and family the most. He especially loved Thanksgiving and Christmas and often commented on how fortunate he had been in life.
He is survived by his wife Hazel, daughter Donna and husband Keith Domingue; son Gary, and grandchildren Tommy and wife Diama Domingue; and Alyssa and husband Carl Runco; cousins, sister in laws, brother in laws, and numerous nieces and nephews.
