Thomas Joseph Hegger was born on Thursday, October 26, 1995 in Bakersf8ield, California. Weighing in at only 6 lbs. 6-3/4 oz., Thomas became to be known to his family as “Little Foot.” Thomas grew up to be a strapping 6’1“young man. Thomas then became known to his family as “Big Foot” (size 13 shoe).
With Thomas’ birth, Thomas joined his “big brother: Tony. What one didn’t think of, the other one did. They were definitely “TNT” together.
Thomas grew up loving all kinds of sports. He played soccer, basketball and select baseball. He truly was the athlete. Thomas loved being outdoors and had many fun family trips to Florida for spring training to see his “Redbirds” play. Thomas knew more about baseball statistics and no one dared question him. He knew his baseball, no doubt.
Thomas attended Ault Elementary, Spillane Middle School and graduated with the class of 2014 from Cypress Ranch High School. Thomas was presently attending Belhaven University with the goal of achieving his Business degree. Thomas was extremely hard-headed, competitive and very determined to live his life his way. He did just that.
Thomas passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2015 unexpectedly. Thomas is survived by his parents Al and Tracey (Perez) Hegger, and brother, Tony. He is also survived by his grandparents
Al and “Alice Hegger, Sr. Thomas’ uncles and aunts are Jim and Angie Hegger, John and
Becky Hegger, Joe and Stacey Hegger, Patti Hegger, Paula and Chris Martin. Many, many loved cousins as well. Thomas’ great aunt and uncle also survive him. Alfred and Marlene Martinez, as well as family Jon Perez, Tim and Anne Perez, Terri and Dick Hepler, and Cindi and A.C. Volper. Thomas will be laid to rest by his grandparents, Jimmy and Maxie Perez.
Our sincere thanks and gratitude to all of Thomas’ friends throughout his life: Kolin Lionberger, Kingston Croes, Ryan Werneke, Donovan Harris, Grady Pruitt, Austin Munz, Corey Avant, and Trey Hicks, for all of the wonderful friends you were to Thomas. If we’ve forgotten to mention anyone, please know you are in our thoughts.
Visitation with the family will be held from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm Thursday, December 17, 2015 at Katy Funeral Home, 23350 Kingsland Boulevard, Katy, Texas 77494. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 7:00 pm.
Mass of Christion burial will be held at 10:30 am Friday, December 18, 2015 at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church, 11507 Huffmeister Road, Houston, Texas 77065 with Bishop George Sheltz and Rev. Sebastine Okoye as Co-Celebrants. Pallbearers: Al Hegger, Jr., Tony Hegger, Jim Hegger, Grady Pruitt, Kingston Croes and Ryan Wernecke. Rite of Committal with follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
In honoring Thomas and his love of the St. Louis Cardinals, the family is requesting attendees to the services to wear Red.
Please give to any RESCUE animal organization. Thomas would be so grateful. Thomas’ four-legged girls (Molley and Mattie) will truly miss their Bubba.
