Terry Lee McGowan was born on January 17, 1944 in Marysville, California to his parents Lawrence Elvin McGowan and Mabel Pearl McGowan. Terry passed away January 28, 2019, shortly after celebrating his 75th birthday.
Terry is survived by his wife Olivia, his children Carrie Lynne Gamache, Frank J. McGowan (Pancho), Ryan M. McGowan (Duke), his grandchildren Adam Michael McRill, Alyson Rose Burg, Andrew Makena Gamache, Madeline Grace Bryant-McGowan, Jack Ryan McGowan and Henry Ignacio McGowan (Nacho), his great grandchildren Amelia Burg and Landon McRill and his dogs Honey and Gizmo.
Terry proudly served his country in the Air Force from 1964-1983 (active duty and reserves). He served one tour in Vietnam from 1967-1968, earning the Air Medal, Distinguished Flying Cross, Purple Heart and Silver Star. Terry was proud to be a Texan and continued his civic duty as a medical technician for the Texas Dept. of Corrections and as a Peace Officer for the State of Texas.
Terry loved life. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Skeet shooting with his friends and teaching others to shoot brought Terry joy. Every year he and Olivia hosted Thanksgiving, because he loved gathering the whole family. If there was anyone that did not have a place to go, they were always welcome at Terry and Olivia’s house.
Terry loved to barbecue and was proud of his brisket. Hosting barbecues was an opportunity to share his brisket and happy memories with everyone. The McGowan family thanks you for continuing this tradition with us, so that we can all look back, feel good and say, ‘that Terry McGowan was a pretty good guy!’
