After attending rural schools, he met Kate, his future wife of almost 62 years, in the 6th grade when they were 10 and 11. They married September 24, 1955 in Oklahoma City where they both obtained jobs. After working in retail in the City they moved to Fort Worth, Texas where he soon obtained employment with Amoco Production Company. They were later transferred to Tulsa where they worshipped with the Memorial Drive Church of Christ where he was a Deacon.
They were transferred in 1972 to Houston with Amoco where he retired with them in 1995 after 38 years. He was a Deacon with the Northwest Church of Christ where he taught young men just as he did in Tulsa.
At the time of his death he was a member of the Cinco Ranch Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Kate, son Steve and sister, Marilyn Buchanan and husband Jim. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews including Dewayne, Kent, Mindy, Rendell, Dianne and Rhonda, Jamie, Connie, Blue, Holly, Mindy, Jimmy. In addition he is survived by three sisters-in-law -- Frances, Phyliss and Hazel.
