Ron grew up in Blackwell, OK, where he earned his Eagle Scout award, and graduated from high school in 1965. After serving 4 years in the U.S. Navy during the Viet Nam war, he earned a degree in accounting from Oklahoma Central State University. During that time he met and married the love of his life Janice Jirik on May 29, 1971 in Kingfisher, OK. They moved to Ponca City, OK to begin his career at Conoco Inc and start their family of 4 children. Later he obtained his CPA license and worked for Enterprise Products Co in Houston, TX for 25 years, retiring in 2013. Ron loved baseball and for over 40 years was a TASO baseball umpire who mentored and became friends with other umpires and coaches along the way. Ron and Jan loved to take cruises, go to movies, take long walks, swim, go out to eat, and relax at home with family and friends.
Ron is survived by his wife, Jan of almost 52 years, sons Brett (Celeste), Curtis (Gisela), and Travis, as well as former daughters-in-law Lisa and Monica, and a sister Jeannie (David) Coleman. Surviving grandchildren are Becky (fiancé John Arredondo), Morgan, Maddie, Meghan, Charlie, Arianna, Curtis Jr, Tristan, Adelynn, Ethan, and Emery, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Joe.
Visitation will be held at Katy Funeral Home, 23350 Kingsland Blvd, Katy, TX on Monday, 2/6/23, 4pm to 8pm. Services will be on Tuesday, 2/7/23 at 10am, followed by burial at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038.
