Dr. Robert Charles Allen, of Fulshear, Texas, passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2022. Charlie was born April 19, 1940, in Fort Worth, Texas, to parents, Robert Moody and Frances Marguerite (Anderson) Allen.
Charlie grew up in Dallas attending North Dallas High School. He graduated with high honors and excelled in Band, ROTC, LINZ club, Eagle Scout, and much more. He attended The University of Texas at Austin, graduating with high honors, earning a PhD in Chemistry. Charlie was a member of the Chi Phi fraternity for over 50 years. He was accepted into the American Chemical Society and became one of three 50+ year members. He earned a brick that was placed on the Chemistry walkway.
Charlie spent his entire career working for Shell Oil in Wood River, then Modesto and finally Houston. He ran two labs and was credited with several inventions and patents in the field of resins.
Charlie married Dottie in 1979. Years of love, friendship and families were shared. His hobbies included photography, music, travel, and family.
Charlie is survived by his wife, Dorothy Pollard Allen; brother, Russell and wife, Linda Allen; children: son, Austin and wife, Karmen Allen; daughter, Alison and husband, Allen Bishop; son, Todd and wife, Sharon Keel; daughter, Tammy and husband, Charlie Morgan; grandkids: Dr Krystal DeLeon; Misty and Mike Fretwell; Travis and Leah Keel; Christian DeLeon; Alex Bishop; Kyle Keel; Emily Allen; Aiden Allen; Aaron Bishop; and great grandkids: Krew Keel, Oliver Fretwell and Lucy Fretwell.
Pallbearers: Travis Keel, Christian DeLeon, Kyle Keel, Aiden Allen, Aaron Bishop, Dillon Richburg, Mikey Fretwell.
Services will be officiated by Dr. Eric Moore; Speaker, John Healey; and Musician/Pianist, R.J. Knapp.
