Richard “Dana” Steigerwald passed away from natural causes at Solera of West Houston on November 22, 2017. He was 78 years old. Dana, born October 15,1939, was the first son of Walter and Elizabeth Steigerwald from Akron, Ohio. They owned and operated Akron Brass and Goodrich Tire Company in West Dallas.
The family Dana left behind includes his brother Walter, his sister Libby and three daughters; Kathryn and Jennifer Steigerwald, Alyson and her husband Mike Michael, and grandchildren George, Sarah, and Jacob Michael.
Dana ran track and played varsity football at Lamar High School. He won a football scholarship to the University of the South in Tennessee where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. In addition to track and football, Dana was an active tennis player and avid fan of UT’s Longhorns. He finished his education graduating from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville Texas. For the last twenty-seven years Dana was self-employed as a CPA in Houston. He also taught college classes for CPA candidates.
His successful CPA business allowed him to invest wisely over the years and make contributions to various charities. Memorial services for Dana Steigerwald will be held at 11 AM on Friday, December 15th at Katy Funeral Home, 23350 Kingsland Blvd. Katy, TX 77494.
