Ramon P. Rodriguez, Jr.

Ramon was born on July 8, 1939 in Laredo, TX to Paula and Ramon Rodriguez, Sr. While in Laredo, working at Ramirez Red and White Grocery Store, he met his soon to be wife, Rachel Serna. They married in Laredo in 1959 and had two children. They moved to El Campo, TX. in 1961 where they had three more children and in 1970 moved the family to Houston, TX. where they had the last of the Rodriguez bunch. While it would seem they had no time away from kids, they enjoyed going to church dances with their friends and playing cards with family and the occasional bowling nights.

He started in the retail grocery business at the age of 15 and worked for numerous retailers through his career. He retired at the age of 62 and retirement agreed with him from the start. He enjoyed working in the garage, building things and fixing the unfixable. We had a nickname for him, MacGyver. He also enjoyed sitting in his favorite chair watching his favorite shows; Gunsmoke, The Virginian and any movie John Wayne was in.

Ramon was preceded in death by his Father, Ramon Rodriguez, Sr, mother Paula Rodriguez and Brother Alberto Rodriguez. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Rachel Rodriguez, son Ramon Rodriguez, III, daughters Rachel, Irma, Sandy, Diana and Patricia, sisters; Antonia Macias, Elsa Guerra and Rosalinda Rodriguez, brothers Roberto and Luis Rodriguez and Tia Luz Rodriguez Pardo. Ramon is also survived by his seven grandchildren Ramon Rodriguez IV, Erica Rodriguez Chebret, Jessica Rodriguez Ramirez, Jordan Kraatz, Joseph Rodriguez, Jackson Sheppard, Jacinta (Jaci) Sheppard and six Great Grandchildren Crystalynn Miranda, Joshua Miranda, Brielle Chebret, Ramona Rodriguez, Kaleb Ramirez and Emma Ramirez.

A visitation will be held at Katy Funeral Home Saturday July 6th, 2019 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm with a funeral services to follow on Sunday, July 7th, 2019 at Katy Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 pm.
