Mary Gomez Moss, 66, passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2016. She was born November 19, 1949, to mother Francis Bernal Gomez and her father Rudolph Gomez, Sr in Houston, TX. She attended HISD schools and graduated from Furr High School. She was employed at United States Postal Services for 36 years until her retirement in 2004. She is preceded in death by her mother, father, and brother, Gilbert Gomez.
Mary was united in matrimony on July 17, 1979 to Archie L. Moss and he has remained a loving, devoted and diligent husband and caretaker until her death.
She is survived by her husband, Archie L. Moss and son Stephen Eric Moss, three brothers; Rudy Gomez, Jr. (Kathy), Roy Gomez (Alice), George Gomez. Mother-in-law, Othella Gertrude Moss and brothers-in law; Cornelius Moss, Winston Moss, Edmond Moss (Carletta), Alpheus Moss, Larry Moss, and Rodney Moss (Donna), stepchildren, Gwen Moss-Smith (Tyrone), Melanie Moss Walker (Keith), and Marcus Moss. Four grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Special thanks to her sister-in-law, Kathy Gomez for her continued help and support.
Mary always loved traveling, caring for her pets, and of course, the Houston Astros. Her greatest joys were her family and countless friends, who will always cherish her love of life and constant, infectious smile. After being diagnosed with ALS in 2013, she became an Ambassador for the cause and spoke in front of Congress for ALS research.
