Marshall passed away peacefully on March 6, 2024 at the age of 86. Born in 1937 to Harry and Frances Kramer, Marshall spent his childhood in New York City. After attending St. Lawrence University, he served in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1962. He married his wife Helene in 1964 and was the proud father of two daughters, Lauren and Allison. In 1978, he moved his young family to Katy, Texas. He and his wife Helene were founding members of Temple Sinai and called Katy home for over 40 years.
Marshall loved nothing more than his family and his service to the community through the fire department. He was a founding member of the West I-10 volunteer fire department, and he began working full-time for the Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office in 1985, where he earned the nickname “Marshal Marshall.” During his 26-year tenure, Marshall rose through the ranks, earning the position of Assistant Chief Fire Marshal of Harris County. He was known for being someone you could always count on, whether you were a family member, a colleague, or an anonymous community member. Upon retiring from the Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office, he was elected to the Board of Commissioners of the Harris County ESD 48 Fire Department in 2012. He served in this elected role for 10 years.
Marshall will be remembered for his immense love of family and his dedicated service to the community. Marshall is survived by his wife of 59 years Helene, his siblings Judy and David, his daughters Lauren and Allison, his son-in-law Jason, and his four grandchildren.
