Karen attended The University of Texas and graduated with a psychology degree in 1983, continuing the longhorn tradition preceded by her parents and paternal grandmother. Karen built her career in vocational and medical workers compensation case management, and had over 25 years in the field. She later earned her masters degree in 2012 from Texas Tech Allied Health to continue her career in helping others.
Karen loved reading and filled her house with hundreds of books- mostly non-fiction novels and biographies. She found joy in exchanging books with her mother, sister and friends, excited to share her passion for the subjects. She also greatly enjoyed movies and treasured the moments she was able to share her favorites with her daughter. However, Karen found the most fulfillment and purpose by giving to others, whether by donating to charitable organizations throughout the year or providing her support to family and friends; she was always someone you could depend on.
Karen is predeceased by her mother, Carole Jane Beasley, her father, Augustus Earl Beasley, and her daughter's father, Sam Lee Rojas. She is survived by her daughter, Raven Rojas, her sister, Kathryn Baker, her brother, Michael Beasley, her nieces and nephew, Angela Itty, Taylor Baker, Kendall Baker, and Duane Beasley, as well as many second nieces and nephews.
The visitation for Karen will be Tuesday, August 15, 2023 from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM at Katy Funeral Home, 23350 Kingsland Blvd, Katy, TX 77494. Funeral Services will begin Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at 10:00 AM. Committal will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Coldspring, TX.
