It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Janet Margaret Daw, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who peacefully departed this life surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday 12th November 2024. Janet was born on 29th April 1950, in Thurrock, Essex, to Edward (Ted) Arthur Shuter and Peggy Florence Hilda Shuter (née Crowther).
Janet’s life was one of devotion and kindness. She met the love of her life, Clifford, at the age of 17 in Ilford. The two were inseparable and married in 1970, embarking on a beautiful journey together that spanned 54 years. They began their married life in Barking, Essex, raising their two daughters, Gaynor and Nicki. In 1981, the family settled in Laindon West, Essex, in the home that would remain filled with love, laughter, and memories for decades.
Janet was a skilled seamstress with a meticulous hand and a creative eye, but her true calling was in caring for others. She found great fulfillment in her career in social work, serving as a carer and later as a scheme manager in sheltered housing. Her dedication to those she served was a reflection of her generous and compassionate heart.
Janet’s family was the center of her universe. Her happiest moments were when she was at home with the whole family. She was a devoted wife to Clifford and a loving mother to her daughters, Gaynor Daw (and her boyfriend Angelo Ioannides of Essex, UK) and Nicki Paddack (and her husband Don Paddack of Katy, Texas). She adored her grandsons, Edward (17) and Henry (14), and embraced every opportunity to nurture and celebrate her family, whether in Essex or during her frequent trips to Texas to be with her extended family.
Predeceased by her parents, Ted and Peggy Shuter, Janet leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that continues to bind her family together in strength and unity.
Janet was a woman of remarkable talents and cherished hobbies. She found joy in sewing beautiful clothing and crafting, solving puzzles, and coloring intricate designs. She had a keen eye for the wonders of the world, enjoying animal and people watching with a playful curiosity. Janet delighted her family with the best roast potatoes, perfected Yorkshire puddings, hearty Shepherd’s Pies and the best homemade chips—dishes that will forever evoke warm memories.
Janet’s life was defined by her kindness, humor, and unwavering dedication to her family. Her nurturing spirit and zest for life have left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Though her passing leaves a void, her memory will be cherished, and her love will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
Rest in peace, Janet Margaret Daw, knowing that your legacy of love and devotion will live on in the hearts of your cherished family and friends.
