James (Jim) Reynolds, a cherished husband, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, humor, and service. Born and raised in Alice, Texas, Jim was a proud Eagle Scout, progressed to a leadership position and exemplified the values he learned throughout his life.
Jim completed high school and attended some college before dedicating himself to a successful career and retirement. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy until 8/19/1988 aboard the USS Roanoke and the USS Samuel Gompers, experiences that shaped his lifelong commitment to helping others. Jim was also CEO of several businesses and believed in small businesses making up America.
On June 22, 1985, Jim married the love of his life, Mary Jane (MJ) Schultz, in Palo Alto, California. Together, they shared a loving home filled with laughter and joy, often accompanied by their beloved pets, including Sassy, their German Shepherd, and the memories of Winkie Dinky Do, a Pomeranian, and Freeway, a Chow Chow.
Jim was best known for his incredible kindness, his passion for helping others, and his delightful sense of humor. He enjoyed rebuilding Trail 70 motorcycles and repairing vehicles, always eager to lend a hand to friends and family. MJ never had to hire a handyman as she married one. He loved talking to people, discussing politics, watching TV, and sharing jokes, brightening the days of those around him.
A dedicated community member, Jim was actively involved in several organizations. He served as a United Way Loan Executive, was a past president and board member of the Alice Optimist Club, and a life member of the Victoria Optimist Club. He held a dual membership with the Free and Accepted Masons, belonging to Island City Lodge in Alameda, CA, and S.B. Mosser Lodge in Alice, TX. He was also a past patron of the Order of the Eastern Star in Alice, served as past district chairman for the Boy Scouts of America, and was a past board member of the Gulf Coast Council.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, William A. Reynolds and Katherine Marie Reynolds. He is survived by his beloved wife MJ Reynolds, brothers William (Keith) Reynolds, Lawrence (Kyle) Reynolds, and Michael (Kevin) Reynolds, along with countless friends who will remember him fondly.
Jim Reynolds leaves behind a rich legacy of love, laughter, and generosity. His spirit will continue to inspire those who knew him, and he will be deeply missed. A celebration of his life will be announced at September 14th at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Southern CROSS, an organization dedicated to training dogs for veterans with PTSD.
