Helen Sophie Anderson

Born in Houston, Texas on April 12, 1950 to Fred and Sophie Budzise, Helen graduated from Jefferson Davis High School, then lived and worked for several years in California before coming home again to Texas and working for Foster Wheeler Co. Always a loyal and valued worker, Helen loved her job and worked hard, having to leave her work due to poor health. But she found great strength in her love, loyalty, and devotion to Our Lord.

True to God and to her faith, Helen was up early every morning for her prayers before breakfast. She read her Bible daily and found guidance and great strength in Scripture. A truly kind, gentle, loving, and beautiful person all her life, Helen always wanted to help others and “lighten their load along the way” by encouraging others to find strength and guidance in God and the Bible as she did. Although she continued to struggle with poor health, Helen was always ready to help others through her faith and service to her Lord.

Helen liked to listen to music she loved. She enjoyed watching sports (her Texas teams), and loved playing bingo (especially winning). As for food, she always wanted her favorite: barbecue ribs and only barbecue ribs. Helen loved to be around family and other people. She loved to laugh, make others laugh, and had a great sense of humor. We miss our darling Helen so much.

When Helen was no longer able to care for herself, she lived with and was faithfully cared for by her sister, Janie Branan, until Helen’s passing. Helen was preceded in death by her mother and father, Fred and Sophie Budzise; by her brother, Johnny L. Budzise; and by her brother-in-law, Don Branan. She is survived by her sister, Janie Branan; by her brother, Fred Budzise Jr. and wife, Gwen; and by her sister, Vivian Aragon and husband, Emilio.

A Funeral Service for Helen will be held Friday, January 5, 2024 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Katy Funeral Home, located at 23350 Kingsland Blvd, Katy, Texas 77494, to be followed by a committal service at 11:00 AM at Forest Park Southwest Cemetery in Richmond, Texas.
