Gloria Appio Klinger entered into eternal life on March 24, 2017. She was born November 11, 1931 in Morristown, New Jersey. Gloria graduated from St. Margaret’s school in 1944 and from Morristown High School in 1948. Moved to Florida in 1989, joined St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and was active in the Bereavement Ministry, taught CCD and was involved in RCIA. Became a lector at both daily and weekend Masses, ministered to the sick, was actively involved in the St. Vincent DePaul Society and joined the Order of Discalced Carmelites March, 2000.
In August of 2001 became a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Melbourne, Florida and continued to minister in the same ministries as in St. Joseph’s. In 2002 she and her husband John joined the Kairos-Torch youth prison ministry at the Brevard Correctional Institution. Gloria was a member of the Woman of the Moose Lodge #1764 in Sebastian, Florida. In 2004 she became a member of the National Council of Catholic Woman at Our Lady of Lourdes Church.
In November, 2005 moved to Flowery Branch, Georgia and became a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church and was also active in all of her ministries there. In the process of this move she transferred to the Atlanta group of the Order of Discalced Carmelites but due to geographic reasons moved to the Lawrenceville, Georgia group of Discalced Carmelites two years later. Gloria was a member of the Resurrection Choir at Prince of Peace when it was established in 2011. In 2006 Gloria joined the Red Hat Society called Diamonds in the Red and she was known as “Lady of the Dance”.
In 2014 Gloria and John moved to Katy, Texas and joined St Edith Stein Catholic Church and remained there until she entered Eternal Life.
Gloria is survived by her husband John whom she married in 1988 and two adult children from a previous marriage: Anna Maria (Bonnie) Barrella of Maryland and Anthony Barrella of Katy, Texas and five grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am until 11:00 am followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 11:00 am at St. Edith Stein Catholic Church, 3311 N Fry Road, Katy, Texas on Thursday March 30, 2017 . Burial will be at FountainHead Memorial Park in Palm Bay, Florida.
