Earl was born in Key West, Florida in 1925. His parents were Earl R. Adams Sr. and Linnie McClain Adams.
At the age of 17, he joined the Navy and served his country for 5 years. During this time he sailed on the Ship, Leyte. He was also a World War II Veteran.
Earl loved the Key West area. He loved hunting and fishing. He loved clam chowder and everything chocolate. Earl loved to spend time with friends and family. He always enjoyed going out to eat and once he found a restaurant that he loved he was always a very loyal customer. It did not matter how cold it was at the time, Earl always wanted ice cream.
Earl moved from Florida to Houston, Texas in 1967.
Earl became a Houston Business man. Over the years he owned both a Restaurant and a Bar establishment. He loved being in the service industry. He owned The Brown Derby in downtown Houston in the 70’s. Later he owned Earl’s Hideaway where he would cook for his regular customers every Friday night. He would always spend a great amount of time getting to know his customers and assured they felt comfortable and welcome.
In 1987 he met the love of his life, Jacquline Adams in Houston, Texas. They have been together ever since. They have spent years traveling around and doing fun things together.
Earl was very proud of his son, Rick (Earl R. Adams III). Rick was in the Marine Corps for 21 years. He is a Veteran of Dessert Shield and Dessert Storm.
Earl was always a true southern gentleman. He always had a kind word and a compliment for everyone he met. A very sweet soul. Earl always had a story to tell. He talked about he and his brother Melvin often and told stories about how they were always into something as young boys and regularly getting into a bit of trouble together. He would talk about how they would go down to the docks in the ’30’s and tourists would throw a quarter into the water at Key West, and the two brothers would get to keep the money if they could retrieve it. He told a story about when he was a boy he was fishing with his grandfather when he fell overboard and became tangled up in the fishing nets attached to the boat. Earl’s grandfather saved him and together agreed, not to ever tell his grandmother.
Earl Is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Jackie Adams of Houston, Texas. His half sister, Marie Adams of Key West, Florida. Son, Keith Adams of Miami, Florida. Son, Rick Adams (Earl R Adams III) of Riverside, California. Daughter in law, Penny Adams of Riverside, California. Granddaughter, Sandra Adams of Riverside, California. Great Grandson, Benjamin McClellan of Riverside, California. His Brother in law, Larry Adams of Wimberley, Texas. Niece, Tiffany Adams of Wimberley, Texas. Great Nieces, Morgan Adams of Houston, Texas & Mattie Adams of Wimberley, Texas.
