Dorothy Lee Ferguson was a hard-working and caring woman. She was the office manager at 9 Bar Ranch for 20 years. There she met and married her late husband, Jimmy Ferguson who himself had worked on the ranch for 55 years. They were married May 12, 1982. She was a dual member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Katy Chapter No. 1121 and the Brookshire Chapter No. 652. She served as Worthy Matron, the chapters’ highest elected office, at the Hempstead Chapter No. 510 from 1998-1999, 1999-2000, 2002-2003 and Katy Chapter No. 1121 from 2006 to 2007. Dorothy had a love for genealogy and took great pride in filling out her family tree. She was also great at crafting with her hands and in her spare time enjoyed quilting, needlepoint, and crochet.
Dorothy Lee Ferguson is preceded in death by her parents, Edgar Feagin Lee and Elizabeth Chandler Lee, son Jerry “Bubba” Martin Wright Jr., and husband, Jimmy Ferguson. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Terry Wright, grandchildren Trey and Ty Wright of Katy, brother Billy Lee of Broaddus, Texas, and half-brother Ronnie Lee of Lufkin, Texas.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 22nd at Katy Funeral Home, 23350 Kingsland Blvd. in Katy, Texas. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, November 23rd at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 5373 Franz Rd. in Katy with The Reverend Chris Duncan officiating.
She will be laid to rest following the services at 3:00 p.m. in Garden of Memories Memorial Park in Lufkin, Texas.
The family would like to thank Dr. David Reininger, Grace Care of Katy and Vantage Hospice for the special care and attention that was provided.
Her family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations are made in her memory to the Order of the Eastern Star Katy Chapter No. 1121 Katy ISD Scholarship fund.
