Cynthia R. Simien was born on June 15, 1952, to Colton and Ann E. Simien, in Baytown, Texas. Ms. Simien passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2013, in Katy, Texas. Cynthia graduated from Lee College, in Baytown, Texas, and St. Edwards University, in Austin, Texas, on a National Merit Scholarship. She was employed at the Texas School for the Deaf while attending college. Cynthia also worked at the State Capitol for Bob Gammage and Gene Jones, as well as, the House Post Office. Ms. Simien was interested in politics at an early age and at the age of 20, attended the Democratic National Convention as a delegate alternate. She worked on campaigns for both the state and national level.
Cynthia was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Colton and Ann E. Simien; brother, Huris Simien, of San Diego, California; and sister, Connie Bradley, of Houston, Texas.
Ms. Simien is survived by a brother, Patrick Simien, of Richmond, Texas; sisters: Monica Simien, of Austin, Texas; Mary L. Jackson, of Lompoc, California; Doris Rawlins, of Houston, Texas; and Francis F. Kirkwood, of Baytown, Texas; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, god children, relatives, friends, extended family and her much loved co-workers and customers of Sasol North America..
The Simien family will receive family and friends at Katy Funeral Home on Monday, October 21, 2013, between the hours of 6:00-9:00PM.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, October 22, 2013, at 12:00PM, in the sanctuary of St. Martin De Porres Catholic Church, 12606 Crosby-Lynchburg Road, Crosby, TX 77532. Rev. Sebastian Umouyo, Celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Martin De Porres Cemetery.
Cynthia's generous nature led her to support many charities and worthwhile causes. She was always willing to lend a hand or ear to her friends.
