Brittanye Kiara Thompkins was born at Sharp Mary Birch on June 20, 1994, at 3:13pm, in San Diego, California to Bryant Thompkins and Crystal Thrower. While in San Diego, Brittanye developed a lifelong love for being a Girl Scout achieving many accomplishments. When Brittanye was 5, she became a big sister for the first time. She loved being a big sister to Brendan whom affectionally called her “Sissy”. At the age of 7, Brittanye and her family relocated to Murrieta, CA. where she continued her Girl Scout adventure until she was in high school being named the highest Girl Scout cookie seller multiple times.
At the age of 9, Brittanye became the big sister to twins, Courtney and Corey. While in high school in Murrieta, Brittanye attended Camp Bloomfield, a camp for teens living with visual impairments. It was here that Brittanye began advocating for herself. She returned home and made the decision that she wanted to go to a school for the Visually Impaired. With Brittanye being Brittanye, she was not having it any other way, therefore the family moved to Texas in 2009.
Brittanye attended Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired (TSBVI), in Austin, TX, where she flourished. Here, she participated in Goal Ball, Cheerleading, and Beep Baseball. She relished in the many opportunities she was given to travel with her school to places like Massachusetts, Alabama, Mississippi, just to name a few. She was afforded many valuable opportunities and made lasting friendships while attending TSBVI. Upon graduation, she attended Tyler Junior College and Wharton Community Junior College, graduating from both. At the time of her passing, she was attending University of Houston-Victoria in pursuit of a degree in Social Work.
On May 27, 2012, Brittanye accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior when she was baptized by Pastor Stanley L. Scott II.
Brittanye had the biggest heart and kindest spirit. She loved hard and would do anything for anyone. She made an impact on everyone that she met. She loved her family with everything in her and had an extra special place in her heart for her nephew, Alexander. Brittanye enjoyed shopping and boy could she shop! Some of her favorite places were Target, Brahmin, Bath and Body Works, and James Avery. She loved music and anything that Tyler Perry touched.
