At the age of 19, she decided to make the trip to America to start a better life for herself and her future family. When she came to America she met another Irishman, Matthew Scanlon. They fell in love and were married in May of 1954. They enjoyed going to dances and taking weekend trips with their family.
Bridget's interests were many, but you could always find her out walking or doing exercises at the YMCA. She would get coffee with her friends at the YMCA weekly, and she never met a stranger walking up and down the block or around the ponds. She also enjoyed cross stitching, hard candies, word search puzzles, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Matthew, Bridget is survived by her five children: Maureen (Eddie) Lavino, Tom (Terri) Scanlon, Pete (Terri) Scanlon, Kevin (Karen) Scanlon, Patty (Nick) Pagano; her ten grandchildren: Anthony Lavino, Kelli (Anthony) Monti, Timmy (Katie) Lavino, Courtney (Derek) Lyall, Katie (Rob) Pagan, Nikole Scanlon, Danielle Scanlon, Erin (Dave) Redding, Jessica Pagano, Matthew Pagano; and her six great grandchildren: Lila Monti, Tessa Monti, Robby Pagan, Jack Pagan, Grace Lyall, and Olivia Lavino.
