Braulio Antonio Alvarez was born in Mexico City, Mexico to Antonio Alvarez Fuertes and Maria Aedo Moreno. Dr. Alvarez earned his Doctorate of Medicine from the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM) in Mexico City, Mexico in 1965. Dr. Alvarez performed his rotating internship in Springhill Hospital in Massachusetts, completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, and completed his Fellowship in Pulmonary Disease at Methodist and at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.
Dr. Alvarez was a distinguished physician for 59 years. During his over fifty years as a physician, Dr. Alvarez was a clinical instructor of medicine, a sub-chief of the Intensive Care Unit at various hospitals, a Pulmonary Consultant, and part-time teaching professor. Dr. Alvarez taught at medical conferences and was repeatedly published. He was involved in countless medical societies and also founded many medical societies which still exist today in the Houston, Texas Medical Center and in Mexico City, Mexico. His focus remained on caring for his patients and supporting his medical colleagues.
Dr. Alvarez enjoyed playing the guitar and singing. He also enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren compete in sports and attend their various school events. Dr. Alvarez’s entire adult life was dedicated to his family, friends, colleagues, and patients.
Dr. Alvarez was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio Alvarez Fuertes and Maria Aedo Moreno and his former wife, Joannie Alvarez. Dr. Alvarez is survived by his sister, Rosa Elvira Alvarez Aedo and her daughter, Roxana Velasco Alvarez. Dr. Alvarez is also survived by his loving wife, Debbie Alvarez and Dr. Alvarez’s children: J. Anthony “Tony” Alvarez and his wife, Vicky. Carla Blanco and her husband, Jesse. Patrick Alvarez and Danielle Alvarez. Dr. Alvarez’s stepchildren, Kristen Cernosek and Ashley Ray. Dr. Alvarez’s grandchildren, Amanda Blanco, Loren Blanco, Alejandro “Alex” Alvarez, Joelle Alvarez, Amber Alvarez, and Vicente Alvarez; his step-grandchildren, Grady Ray and Henry Ray; and his great-grandchild Casey Baker. All of whom he deeply adored and cherished.
Most of all, he will always be remembered as a man who was incredibly generous and compassionate to his patients and to anyone who needed a helping hand. He was full of life and love for his family and friends and exceedingly kind and loyal.

Services
ROSARY AND FUNERAL MASS Family and friends are invited to attend the funeral mass to be held at 10:00 a.m. on January 6, 2025 at St. Faustina Catholic Church, 28102 FM 1093, Fulshear, Texas 77441. There will be a Rosary service prior to the funeral mass at 9:15 a.m. on January 6, 2025 at St. Faustina Catholic Church.
CELEBRATION OF LIFE Family and friends are also invited to a celebrate Dr. Alvarez’s life following the funeral mass at a reception from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025, at Katy Funeral Home, 23350 Kingsland Blvd., Katy, Texas 77494.
