Born in Corpus Christi, Texas, Randy grew up in and around the Houston/Bellaire area. He attended Bellaire High School and later earned his GED, paving the way for a life full of hard work and dedication to those he loved.
Randy worked as a machinist by trade and went on to become a QA specialist and GM for machine shops in his later years. His exceptional skills in math and precision were admired by all who worked with him, as he could cut pieces by eye with more accuracy than most could with assistance from advanced technology. However, Randy often said that the only job he had that every really mattered was being a full-time dad. His greatest passion was being a father. When asked what he aspired to be when he grew up, he would always answer, "I want to be a Dad," a role he embraced fully and with unwavering devotion. He held a variety of other occupations throughout the years and his perseverance casted light upon his desire to provide a safe, secure, and joyful life for his family.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Randy was a man of many passions. He loved camping, fishing, and even surfing in his younger years. A longtime Scout Master and Venturing Crew leader, he was deeply involved in Boy Scouts and had a profound impact on the lives of countless young people. One of his favorite leisurely activities was playing golf with family and friends. He also enjoyed dancing, playing poker with his "Poker Buddies," and spending time reading and watching history documentaries, especially those about WWII and the Civil War. A sports fan through and through, he was an avid supporter of the Astros, Rockets, and Texans. He was known for cooking his famous chili, and above all else, his pastime of choice was spending quality time was with his family and friends.
Randy was best known for his ability to listen, be a good friend and offer advice when needed. He was always there for others when they called, offering compassion and a helping hand, especially to those struggling with life challenges. His generous spirit was unmatched, as he would often take in friends and family members who were facing tough times. He offered many a safe place to stay to ensure they would have a warm bed, roof over their head, and food on their plate while helping them get back on their feet. He would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need. Randy was always there for his family, whether it was someone needing advice, friendship or just someone to vent frustrations to, he was there. He was always around to lend a hand or an ear; whatever he could do to help, he would do it without a second thought.
He is preceded in death by his father, Albert Richard Robinson. Randy is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Michelle M. Robinson; his daughters, Angela and Megan Robinson; and his son, Albert "RJ" Robinson, Jr. He is also survived by his mother, Betty Sue Sheetz, as well as his siblings: Sherry Carlson and her husband Greg, Richard “Rick” Robinson and his wife Lisa, Jimmy Robinson and his wife Julia, and Robert Tillman. Randy was also cherished by 11 nieces and nephews, his pet pupper and best fur bud, Charlie, as well as countless friends and colleagues who were touched by his kindness and generosity.
