Yvonne S. Harrington, 95, of Leawood, KS died Saturday, July 29, 2017, at Sunrise of Leawood. Catholic funeral rites will be 11:00 am Thursday, August 3, 2017, at the McGilley Midtown Chapel, 20 W. Yvonne was born January 11, 1922 in Nevada, MO to Ted G. and Charlene (Kunkel) Crosley. She moved to Kansas City in 1946. Yvonne married John (Jack) P. Harrington, who preceded her in death in 1985. Yvonne was a graduate of the Springfield Draughon Business University, Springfield, MO. She had been the executive assistant to Mr. Wolferman of Wolferman Fine Foods located on the Country Club Plaza. She was also office manager for Century Electric Motors in Kansas City, Missouri before retiring. Yvonne was a longtime member of Cure of Ars Catholic Church until health prevented her attendance. Yvonne was strongly devoted to her loving family, and she never met an animal or mystery novel that she didn’t love. Yvonne loved Kansas City more than anywhere else in the world. One of her biggest adventures, however, was moving to exotic Dacca, East Pakistan (1963-65), where her beloved Jack worked as an engineer for Black and Veatch International. Although it was only for 2 years Yvonne’s fond memories of living abroad, and all her treasures filled her life. Yvonne’s survivors include her son, D. Michael Harrington and wife Maimoona of Olathe, KS; daughter Dennise Weidenhofer of Overland Park, KS; grandsons Jared Harrington of Washington D.C.; Justin Harrington and wife Heather of Overland Park KS; Faizan Haroon of Dubai, United Arab Emirates; Usman Haroon of Olathe, KS; great-grand-son Lucas John Harrington of Overland Park, KS; and her loving companion Duke, the house pet at Sunrise of Leawood who was by her side every night.
